Saving a project

To save a project, click on either the "Save" or "Save As" button located above the toolbar. Your work is not automatically saved for you, so take care to save your work before navigating away from the Popfly web site.

Opening an existing project

To open an existing project, click on the "My Stuff" menu and select "Projects". To run a project, click on a project name. If you would like to edit a project, click on the "Edit" link under the project name.

Sharing a project

To share a project, go to your "Projects" page (click on the "My Stuff" menu and select "Projects"). For each project you have saved, you can decide to share or unshare the project. By default, projects you create are unshared. When you share a project, it is shared with all members of the Popfly community and anyone else on the Internet who has a link to your project.

Finding projects

If you want to see your own projects, click on the "My Stuff" menu and click on "Projects".

You can see a list of top rated projects and featured mashups on the Popfly home page. You can also browse the newest projects and the Popfly users who have the highest overall project ratings.

To do a search for projects by either their tag, project name or description, enter any of those terms in the search box at the top of Popfly pages. The search results will include any matching blocks, mashups, web pages, and visual studio projects.

Tagging projects

To help people find your project in the project search, or to have your block show up in a category in the blocks list, you can tag your project with some keywords.

You can enter tags for your project when you first save it. After you choose a name for your project, press the "Description and Tags" expander button. Multiple tags are seperated by a space. You can also edit the tags for a project by clicking on the "Project Details" link for the project on your "Projects" page.

For the blocks list, the following categories are associated with tags:

• Display category: display (Show images, movies, and more! Featuring Silverlight technology.)
• Images & Video category: media (Image and video goodness.)
• Local Information category: local (Local information. Things about your city, state, country... and planet?)
• Maps category: map (Display maps or works with location data.)
• News & RSS category: news (News and RSS feeds.)
• Shops category: shop (Get information from different shops.)
• Social Networks category: social (Data from friend networks, such as Facebook.)
• Tools category: tool (Sorting, filtering, combining, user inputting, and more.)
• Everything Else category: Anything that's not tagged with one of the above tags. (Or not tagged at all.)
